BOMBAY SAPPHIRE POP-UP DESIGN
SAPPHIRE INSPIRED
Open for four short days in November 2005, the Bombay Sapphire Pop-Up Shop, launched in collaboration with Surface Magazine, presented a limited-edition lifestyle collection of objects for the home. Curated by Surface Magazine’s Brand Director Riley Johndonnell, the exhibition, titled “Sapphire Inspired,” showcased the work of a group of international design innovators, including Antonioni and his Orange22 team.
MOOD LIGHTING
Antonioni drew inspiration from the brand’s signature gemstone, creating the Azure Bar Cart, a cocktail mixing station whose sleek lines evoke a sense of speed, and The Blue Aureole Table. Embedded within the table’s surface, a remote-controlled network of LED lights change in color, providing an infinite array of luminous patterns and hues. “At the touch of a button,” says Antonioni, who participated in the show alongside designers like Eva Menz and Jonathan Saunders, “the table completely changes the mood of a room. By extension, it affects the mood of the people in the room, which is exactly what design ought to do.”
